A 23-year old woman, Afuye Christiana, on Monday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly receiving stolen items.

The police prosecutor, Oriyomi Akinwale, said that the defendant committed the crime earlier in November last year in Ikere-Ekiti.

Akinwale alleged that the defendant received a 32 inches LG plasma television set from one Olaoye Toyin, one of the stolen items which was looted from the Police Divisional Headquarters of the state.

According to him, the offence contravened Section 427 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

Akinwale urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the case file and provide his witnesses.

Christiana, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.

The Chief Magistrate, Lanre Owoleso, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N75,000, and adjourned the case until February 16, for further hearing.
