The Police, on Monday arraigned a technician, Sikiru Ojo, in a Grade 1 Area Court, Karu in Abuja for allegedly stealing spare parts of cars valued at N345,000 belonging to his boss.

Ojo, 38, of Durumi II Area in the FCT is facing a two count charge of mischief and theft.

The Judge, Maiwada Inuwa, however, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300, 000 and also ordered him to produce one surety, who should live within the court jurisdiction.

He also adjourned the case until March 2, 2021 for hearing.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Ade Adeyemo told the court that the defendant was entrusted with two cars, Toyota Camry and a Toyota Matrix belonging to his boss for repairs as a technician.

Adeyanju said that the defendant criminally removed a gear box of the Toyota Camry valued at N250, 000 and the catalyst of the Toyota Matrix valued N95, 000 totaling N345, 000.

The prosecutor said that the defendant sold the spare parts and converted the proceeds to his personal use.

He told the court that the matter was reported at the Karu Police Station by Festus Okafor.

The offense, Adeyanju added, contravened the provisions of Sections 327 and 289 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
