The Kwankwasiyya faction of the People’s Democratic Party in Kano State has dragged the state Independent Electoral Commission to court for using its logo on local government election ballot.

The party wants the court to stop the commission from using its logo on the ballot papers as it would not partake in the local government polls scheduled for January 16.

The Chairman of the party in the state, Shehu Sagagi, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Kano on Wednesday.

He said the decision to take legal action against the commission was necessary in view of the fact that the party had resolved to boycott the election.

According to him, KANSIEC has no right to accept candidates vying for the chairmanship and councillorship positions from an individual.

He said the Amb. Wali faction of the party took the Kwankwasiyya faction to court 10 times but eventually the latter emerged victorious.

He added that the PDP in the state would not rest until when the leadership crisis in the state was resolved.

He maintained that there was no official letter from the PDP informing the commission that it was not partaking in the election.
