Ondo State Chief Judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Akeredolu has rejected a request letter from the Ondo State House of Assembly asking the CJ to set up a probe panel against Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, over alleged gross misconduct, Lawreporters can confirm.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Bamidele Oleyelogun, on Thursday sent a letter to the Chief Judge requesting that a seven-man panel investigate Mr. Ajayi.
The Chief Judge, Akeredolu, in her reply, gave reasons why the letter was rejected.
One of the assistants who work in the office of the Chief Judge claimed anonymity, stated there are discrepancies in the letter, and inability of assembly members to follow constitution and form required number needed to impeach Ajayi.
A two-thirds majority is needed to impeach the deputy governor and the impeachment plotters do not have such numbers.
According to the source, since the house failed to form a 2/3 majority needed to impeach the deputy governor, the Chief Judge cannot do their job for them.
