Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has approved the payment of harmonised allowances for law officers serving in the judicial and legislative arms of the state government.
This was revealed when the High Court of Justice appeared before the House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary to defend the 2021 budget.
Those to benefit from the allowance, which will begin next month, include House of Assembly legal officers, lawyers from the Ministry of Justice, magistrates and other law officers.
Acting Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary, Mohammed Alkali commended the governor for approving the implementation of the law officers’ allowances, which was not paid previously despite that there was a law to that effect.
He expressed satisfaction about the budget proposal, which also captured the allowances and called on the Ministry of Justice to redouble its effort in accessing funds, which was necessary for improving the justice system.
