An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of a 37-year-old man, Akeem Olayiwola, in the correctional centre, Ado-Ekiti, over alleged attempted murder.

The Prosecutor, Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the defendant, whose address was not provided, committed the offense on Nov 25 at Ilawe-Ekiti.

Akinwale said that the defendant attempted to murder one Olu Oko.

He said that the defendant, a hunter, went to farm and pulled his gun, thinking he had shot an animal, not knowing that it was a human being.

According to him, the offense contravenes Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor, therefore, urged the court to remand the defendant in the correctional centre, pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecution.

Newsmen reports that the plea of the defendant was not taken.

The Chief Magistrate, Adefumike Anoma, ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional centre, pending issuance of legal advice by the DPP’s office.

She, thereafter, adjourned the case till Jan 21, for mention.
