President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has asked Nigerians to be “thankful for small mercies”.
He stated that the issue of security is an ever-changing landscape and is never constant.
Adesina said this during his appearance on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, urging Nigerians to be patient.
He asserted that the patience of Nigerians “must be elastic”, and that with matters of security, there can be no timeline.
He said, “Patience must be elastic, it’s not something that you get to a point and say patience has run out. Patience must be a continuous thing.
“There are certain things in which you don’t have control of all the variables. If you don’t have all the variables, you don’t then begin to give timelines. And security is not one of those things that you will give a timeline to say by this time to this time, we will achieve this.
“All over the world, security is a continuous thing and even the most advanced countries, are still working at it.”
This call for patience by the president’s special adviser comes on the back of the abduction and release of the over 300 Kankara schoolboys who had been captured by bandits in Katsina State from their school.
Adesina added that “there are challenges, but that is not the constant.
“Let’s be thankful for small mercies.”
