The Lagos-Ogun Mass Transit Train Services (MTTS) will resume soon, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has said.

Jerry Oche, the Lagos Railway District Manager, said on Thursday that the corporation is putting finishing touches to the coaches and tracks, adding that essential staff have been advised to resume.

He stated that there is no time yet on when the route will be open and said that the corporation was ensuring that the resumption complies with COVID-19 preventive protocols and maintain social distancing in the coaches.

The NRC had earlier on March 25, announced the suspension of the route which attracts huge patronage as a containment measure against the ravaging COVID-19

Within the period of closure, the corporation said it has been operating freight services from Apapa Port to Alagomeji terminals in Yaba as well as to Ijoko terminal in Ogun.

The corporation had announced it would commence skeletal operations on the Lagos-Ibadan Standard Guage Rail line with 16 trips daily from the middle of September.
