A Katsina senior magistrate court on Tuesday remanded two men, Saadu Haruna and Musa Ibrahim, in a correctional facility until April 1, 2021, over a recent bandits’ attack in the state where three men were killed and seven others abducted.

The duo who are 40 years’ old each are residents of Dantankari village, Dandume Local Government Area of the state.

The police told the court that on December 25, 2020, bandits attacked Dantankari village, killing three people namely Abdulmutallib Ibrahim, Muhammadu Isyaku and Sani Ibrahim.

The bandits also reportedly kidnapped seven victims namely Abdullahi Hayatu, Sani Iliya, Yunusa Soja, Alhaji Dahiru Mahangi, Dan Bayero, Hajizu Nasir and Umar Shaaibu, who were still being held in their captivity.

The court further heard that the DPO Dandume moved to the village along with military personnel to flush out the bandits on that day.

The police revealed that in the course of investigation on the incident, Haruna and Ibrahim were arrested in connection with the case because the duo was overheard discussing the attack even before the village was attacked.

The duo was also alleged to have mentioned those to be kidnapped in the attack during their discussion.

They both allegedly confessed to the police during an investigation of having prior knowledge of the attack.
