A Chief Magistrates Court in Ore, Ondo State, on Tuesday remanded a father, Peter Moses, in custody for allegedly impregnating his daughter.
The 36-year-old father was said to have committed the crime between November, last year and January 2021 at Asewele Korede town in the Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The defendant was arraigned before the court on two counts bothering on unlawful sexual intercourse.
He pleaded guilty to the two charges read against him.
He however urged the court to temper justice with mercy.
The police prosecutor, Jimoh Amuda, told the court the police had commenced investigations into the matter, urged the court for adjournment to enable the police complete investigation, as well as seek legal advice from the state Ministry of Justice.
The magistrate, F. O. Omofolarin, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional service centre and adjourned the case till February 21.
